Is Your Storefront Door In Need Of Repair? Here's How To Tell

Blog

Your storefront door is vital to your building's appearance and security and is the primary point of entry for your customers and employees. That's why keeping your storefront door in good working order is vital. But how do you determine when a repair is necessary? Here are some warning signs that your storefront door needs to be fixed.

Misaligned Hinges

If your storefront door makes a noise when it opens or closes, it could be a sign of damage or misalignment. Worn hinges, a damaged door frame, or a problem with the door itself could cause this. If the hinges on your storefront door are misaligned, it can cause the door to stick or be difficult to open or close. This can be caused by wear and tear or damage to the hinges or door frame.

Visible Damage

Scratches and dents in a storefront door can be caused by impacts, such as a car door or shopping cart being accidentally slammed against the door. Various factors, including impact, extreme temperature changes, or age, can cause cracks in a storefront door. Rust on the hinges or hardware on a storefront door can be caused by exposure to water or moisture, and these visible defects can weaken a door.

Worn Weatherstripping

If you feel a draft coming through your storefront door, it could indicate that the door is not sealing correctly. The weatherstripping on a storefront door is responsible for sealing the door against the door frame, helping prevent drafts. If the weatherstripping is damaged or worn, it can cause drafts to come through the door. These drafts can cause higher energy bills and make the HVAC system not heat or cool the building.

Security Issues

If the lock on your storefront door is not functioning correctly, it can compromise the security of your business. This could include a lock that is difficult to open or close or a lock that is damaged or broken. Inspect the hardware on your storefront door, including the hinges, handles, and latch. If any of this hardware is broken or damaged, it can compromise the security of your business.

If you notice any of these issues with your storefront door, you'll want to have it repaired as soon as possible. Not only will this help maintain the appearance and security of your business, but it can also prevent further damage and costly repairs. A professional storefront door repair company can assess the problem and recommend the best action to fix it.

French Doors: Considering Different Options

When the time came to invest in a new patio door, I thought that something other than the older sliding glass door would be nice. That's when a friend suggested I look into the idea of installing French doors. After taking a look at the space, the contractor talked with me about how we could design the doors and achieve the look I had in mind. What I ended up with was actually two sets of French doors with a narrow stained glass window in between. I still had plenty of natural light coming into the space, but I also had the graceful look of the doors. If you are wondering if French doors are right for your home, let's talk. After you hear more about my project, I'm betting you'll want to ask a contractor if this approach is worth considering.
